An active French school trip to the Charente region of southwest France includes a mixture of sporting activities, mini-adventures and sight-seeing.
Day 1 – Arrive at La Giraudiere
Day 2 – Day at Brossac Lake (Etang Vallier)
Covering nearly 4 hectares, Etang Vallier is a tranquil pond with excellent water quality. Here you can spend your days lounging on the sandy beach or relaxing under the pines near the water. Canoe and sailboat rentals (in season) complement the water-based activities.
Day 3 – Day Trip to Fort Boyard
Fort Boyard served as a prison before it was abandoned by the army in 1913 and subsequently put up for sale.
A visit to Fort Broyard begins aboard the sailing vessel La Marcelle. The Captain will welcome you aboard and show you around his boat. Once life jackets and oilskins are distributed, the boat will cast off from the Port of Boyardville and head for Fort Boyard and the Ile d’Aix.
Day 4 – Organized Tennis Tournament
The village of Brossac contains two well-maintained tennis courts, the perfect venue for a friendly tennis tournament, organized by La Giraudiere. After a morning of tennis, the children will break for lunch onsite and return to the courts for the afternoon. At the end of the day, there will be an awards presentation, and everyone who entered the tennis tournament will be recognized for their participation.
Day 5 – Day Trip to the Palmyre Zoo (Zoo de la Palmyre)
Palmyre Zoo is the largest zoo park in France and one of the most renowned in Europe, boasting over 1600 animals. The Zoo is located between Bordeaux and La Rochelle, just a few dunes away from Royan. At Palmyre Zoo, you will encounter animals from all continents, in the company of the squire, Claude Caillé. The Zoo represents the realization of one man’s dream to transform a pine forest into a jungle oasis.
Day 6 – Organized Football Tournament
The village of Brossac contains a professional-sized football pitch, providing an ideal venue for a 5-a-side football tournament, organized by La Giraudiere. After a morning of football, the children will break for lunch onsite and return to the field for the afternoon. At the end of the day, there will be an awards presentation, and everyone who entered the football tournament will be recognized for their participation.
Day 7 – Depart for Home
SAFETY and SECURITY NOTE: Bright illuminated vests are available for student use, and each is clearly marked to identify the child as a participant of a school group staying at La Giraudiere.
